I'm not sure why the previous reviewer had so many difficulties with scratches and the sturdiness of this cabinet - either it wasn't handled or packed right when it was shipped or it simply wasn't put together correctly because I have nothing but positive things to say about this unit.
I bought this to store my fairly large videogame collection which I had been storing in a bookshelf at least a foot taller and 6 inches wider, and my main purpose for buying it was for the locking door (I have a 2 year old who has been trashing my collection on a near daily basis - so locking this stuff up once and for all was my goal). Imagine my surprise when the collection that had been OVERFLOWING my much larger bookshelf, fit nice and neatly into this cabinet WITH AN ENTIRE DOOR OF SPACE STILL AVAILABLE!!!! WOW!
The only negative I can possibly muster up would be the slide bolt on the door that doesn't have the lock. It's in an awkward position and the screws they supply for attaching it are MUCH too short (my 9 year old manager to break it off on the first day by pulling the door too hard) - so, I went out and bought some longer screws and all is well.
I would say my only regret would be getting it in black - now that it's up and in use, I'm not OVERLY enthused about the color choice. But this is merely a personal opinion, certainly not an issue with the cabinet or it's craftsmanship. Suffice to say, I will be buying another black one soon to match this and get rid of my other bookshelf that's currently holding all of my DVDs and CDs...

I bought this because of the fact that it locks. I received it fast but it took about 4 hrs for my husband and I to put it together and eventhough we put it together right the supid thing will not lock because the door does not line up at all. And it tends to wabble also. I would have just sent it back but with the hassel of putting it together and then having to ship it back and taking my chances at another. I did email the company and was told that I could buy replacement parts....If I am having problems with an item due to manufactoring issues I should not have to BUY replacement parts. So to keep the kids out of the movies we put a child lock through the handles.

We have a 1 year old and we needed a DVD shelf that closed. I found this one online and the reviews were mixed so we went ahead and ordered it. We should have listened to the bad reviews. For the price it is not worth it.
Pros:
1. It was fairly easy to put together
2. Once it is all finished it does look nice
Cons:
1. There was not a step that we did that there was not a piece scuffed or scratched. Apparently they knew this was an issue because they sent a black marker to fix them.
2. The top was chipped when we got it and one of the adjustable shelves was broken and unusable (they are supposed to be sending us replacements)
3. It is very wobbly! Even with the back on (which is supposed to make it sturdy) it wobbles from side to side.
4. When we hammered in the nails on the back it cracked the top shelf.
5. Once you put DVDs on the top shelf it is hard to open the left side
6. The pre-drilled holes made a huge mess. There was wood all in them. I had to vacuum them out, but they still made a horrible mess.
7. The thing to attach it to the wall was not good. If we would have used the one they sent we wouldn't have been able to put it flush with the wall
8. Fingerprints show up horribly. However, they do wipe off with windex.
