This KVM does work without the power, but sometimes the mouse will not connect. It has a place to put power, but no power adapter comes with it. It says there is an optional power cord available, but I couldn't find it anywhere on your site. I had one with the same fitting and same VAC so I tried it and we have had no problems since. GET A POWER ADAPTER!

I have a bunch of old computers that I use and I only have space for one set of keyboard, monitor and mouse. This unit works with the old PS2 systems. I especially liked the fact that all cables needed were included. For many other switches you have to buy cables separately. I have had no problem switching with either the button on the unit, or the "hot key" sequence. Some reviewers have mentioned the loud chirp, but it is not a problem for me.
